About the Role

The Logistics Technician is responsible for timely and accurate packaging, shipping, and receiving of product.  This includes inspection and acceptance activities, as well as significant interaction with the ERP system, creating purchase orders, manufacturing orders, and tracking of outsourced/external processing.

Essential Function / Duties*

Shipping & Receiving

  • Pack outgoing shipments to prevent damage to product, following (and helping to establish) relevant work instructions.
  • Ensure all necessary documentation is included with each shipment.
  • Prepare shipping labels and paperwork.
  • Coordinate freight and shipment of all items.
  • Manage packaging supply inventory (boxes, bubble wrap, bags, etc.)
  • Receive all incoming packages and distribute to appropriate locations.
  • Receive purchase orders from secondary processors and transfer product to inspection.  If there is an attached PO, receive that as well.


  • Create purchase orders and manufacturing orders in the ERP system for outsourced/external processing.
  • Close out manufacturing orders in GP system for all inventory and distribution Manufacturing Orders.
  • Invoice customer shipments.
  • Physical maintenance of inventory and cycle counts.
  • Assist with purchase orders for direct and indirect materials.
  • Identify potential issues and ensure on-time delivery by tracking internal production and external purchase orders against plans.
  • Entry of WIP time in GP for all manufacturing orders.
  • Other data misc data entry.

Work Schedule / Supervision

Position: Full-time: 40 hours/week, potential for more.

Position StatusNon-exempt position; with compensation and without notice

Recommended Education / Experience

Education: High school education, post-secondary education in manufacturing technology or laboratory sciences preferred.

Experience: Previous experience in a manufacturing or logistics environment and familiarity with inspection tools and processes preferred.  Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to a manufacturing environment and equipment.  Other factors are office, warehouse, and production floor environment; sitting/standing for long periods of time; computer station work; working around or in potentially hazardous machinery (may require the use of personal protective equipment).
